Lemongrass Essential Oil (Cymbopogon flexuosis) distilled leaf oil

Our Lemongrass Essential Oil has a wonderful fresh earthy lemon aroma. Steam distilled from a tall aromatic perennial grass which has a long history of use in traditional Indian medicine.

Lemongrass is one of approximately 55 other species in the Poaceae family of grasses. Of these multiple varieties, the two most popular ones are Cymbopogon citratus and Cymbopogon flexuosus. Though both can be used to produce essential oils, citratus is largely used for culinary purposes, whereas flexuosus is more popular for use in essential oils and perfumes.

A tall aromatic perennial grass, lemongrass has a long history of use in traditional Indian medicine for treating infectious illnesses and fever. It is a yellow colour with a refreshing earthy lemon aroma.

Lemongrass is a yellow to amber colour and has a slightly viscous consistency.

Lemongrass has a soothing tonic action and is particularly helpful for headaches or mental fatigue. Try it in a diffuser while studying or any other occasion when you need to concentrate.

Related to Citronella, Lemongrass has traditional uses as an insect repellent. So it could be especially useful in a diffuser at your next outdoor event!

If using Lemongrass on the skin, on the negative side be aware that it may cause skin irritation. Therefore we recommend a maximum concentration of .7% in topical preparations.
