Characteristics - Named for the city of Bergamot in Italy. A small yellowish citrus fruit with extremely sour flesh (not edible). Used to flavout Earl Grey tea. Extremely popular in perfumery. Calming and uplifting, cooling and refreshing.
Properties & benefits - Very useful for any stress-related condition, including skin conditions, anxirty and tension. Said to increase confidence and calm frustration. Stimulating effect on the digestive system and calming to the respiratory system. Effective deororiser.
Blends well with - chamomile, clary sage, cypress, geranium, lavender, lemon, mandarin, petitgrain
Cautions - Can cause phototoxicity. Avoid sun exposure if using any preparation including begamot. General Methods of Use of Essential Oils -
Inhalation - 1-2 drops on a tissue or 3-4 drops in a bowl of warm water. (this method not to be used for asthmatics) Baths - 5-6 drops in a full drawn bath. Mix well just before getting in. Massage - add 2-3 drops to every 10ml of carrier oil
