Characteristics - A tall evergreen tree with long needles and brown cones. Used by the Native Americans to prevent scurvy and the repel lice and fleas. Long history of use for respiratory conditions.
Properties & benefits - Cleansing and invigorating and useful when inhaled to relieve mental fatigue. Stimulating and warming.
Blends well with - cedarwood, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, marjoram, petitgrain, rosemary, tea tree
Cautions - Some species of pine are considered skin irritants, so it is important to check the botanical name of any Pine essential oil. Pinus sylvestris may be sensitising in some cases.
General Methods of Use of Essential Oils -
Inhalation - 1-2 drops on a tissue or 3-4 drops in a bowl of warm water. (this method not to be used for asthmatics) Baths - 5-6 drops in a full drawn bath. Mix well just before getting in. Massage - add 2-3 drops to every 10ml of carrier oil
