Why Soy Wax?
Soy wax is a relatively new product having been created only during the 1990s. It was created as a natural alternative to paraffin wax. There have always been other natural wax alternatives, notably beeswax. But beeswax is considerably more expensive than soy wax, so is much more of a luxury product. Other natural alternatives include palm wax, which has also been touted as a sustainable resource. But more recently the plight of the orang-utans and the fact that their habitat is being destroyed to make way for palm oil/wax plantations makes this claim somewhat doubtful.
Natural soy wax, produced by hydrogenation of the oil extracted from soy beans, is an environmentally friendly, cleaner-burning, renewable resource. Essence of Wellbeing Natural Soy Wax Candles are made from pure natural soy wax and pure essential oils with cotton wicks. No synthetic fragrances and no synthetic colour. Some have a tint of colour from the essential oils used, but none contain added colour.
